It’s been a long time coming, but now we can finally jailbreak our Apple A5 powered iPad 2 tablets! But best of all is this jailbreak solution is super simple to perform and untethered!

Before you get started you will want to back up your iPad 2 incase anything should go wrong.
While you are backing up, head to our post found here, to download a copy of the iPad 2 Jailbreak tool called Absinthe (we have links for Windows, OSX and Linux users)
How to Jailbreak iPad 2 Running iOS 5.0.1
- First open the ZIP containing the Absinthe Jailbreak tool you downloaded here.
- Once extracted to your desktop double click on the Absinthe icon to open the iPad 2 Jailbreak tool.
- A dialogue box will appear asking you to connect your iPad 2 to your PC via USB, also you will be prompted to delete any VPN settings and passwords you have in your iPad 2 before beginning.
- Once you have cleared those settings you can hit the Jailbreak button.
- The Absinthe jailbreak tool will now cycle through a number of steps, eventually rebooting and preparing your iPad 2 for the Jailbreak to be injected.
- When Absinth is almost done another message will appear saying ‘almost done’
- When Absinthe has finished you will find that your iPad 2 now has an Absinthe iOS icon on the springboard, press on it.
- If you get an error it will mean the server is down, tap the settings icon and turn on your VPN.
- You will get another error, but don’t worry this is part of the process hang on while your device reboots.
- Once your iPad 2 has rebooted you will find that you now have Cydia already installed on your Springboard and your iPad 2 is now completely Jailbroken and untethered!
